Comiket 75: Wrapup in the Parking Lot

So… a pretty disappointing Comiket for games, but I suppose it was just 4 months after the last one, so hopefully it just means that next summer’s will be all the better. What Comiket would be complete without me leeching shots of the crazy cars in the parking lot from SenakaBlog (NSFW)? SB was on hiatus during last Comiket, though, so nothing to see from the last one unfortuantely. I do like the tsundere tun-dele car, but nothing quite lives up to the Embodiment of Scarlet Spare Tire or any of the Nanohamobiles from past Comikets.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Space #01 — I Don’t Think So, HAL

Why don’t AIs ever stay sane?

New Season Disclaimer:

I’ll make a post for almost all new series (barring sequels) with a wrap-up and bullet point opinion of each once the premier week is over. Remember that these are just my kneejerk reactions to the first 20 minutes of shows, many of which in genres that I don’t even particularly like, but I do believe in giving every new series at least an episode to at least try and hook me.

Impressions:

Uh… huh. My guess that this is a Keroronian plot may not have been far off. Instead of being some kind of sci fi adventure or space opera, this is more of a slapstick harem comedy.

Guys and Figures (they’re not Dolls!)

photo01

I’ve talked about my love of manga, now I talk about my appreciation of anime figures.

Figure collecting to me is something intriguing, and a source of exercise as I jog to the local Anime shop three times a week if I can find the time. I am not as experienced in figure collecting as some other people such as Actar in the above video, but I have experienced some of what Winston Churchill defined as “blood, toil, tears and sweat” because of my figure collecting hobby. My mother and brother occasionally poke fun at the figures which decorate my room, but so far it hasn’t been so bad that I’ve had to condemn them in a treatise like the pretentious bludger intellectual Ignatius J.

Absolutely Lovely Children - Double Face Recap Special

As expected, just a clips episode plus recap from Hotaru and Natsuko while they played a lot of the character themes and insert songs as they talked about each one. They used the fancy version of the second ED, so assumably we’ll be getting the new one next week. The only new shots were the eyecatches of Double Face, and the next ep preview above. Back to real episodes next week for Fujioka’s challenge.

Minami-ke: Welcome Back #01 — He’s a Witch!

Burn the witch!

Impressions:

No real surprises with this one. I enjoyed the first two seasons, and I’m sure I’ll like the third. Unfortunately, while there’s always quite a bit to talk about, there remains very little substantive to be actually say, especially after 20 some odd episodes of the relatively same thing. It did seem like the production values may have taken a bit of a hit for this opening episode as compared to the opening episode of the first season and the entire second season, although they did revert back to the first season stylistically. There were no blacked out faces or even the super detailed SERIOUS faces though, so who knows if that’ll stay. I really love the OP.

Today is the day I grow old

summerbeer

Not as old as her, but I’m 19 today, six years away from Christmas Cake territory. (I apologise, that was offensive)

Today is the day I grow old, and the summer sun of the southern hemisphere is currently in the phase of being almost ready to set. But it’s Daylight Savings, just like my youth, you think the sun will never go away. Then it gets dark and you wonder where the light went.

As far as established anime bloggers go, I’m pretty young still, but about a year younger than IKnight as I recall. I could be wrong. Anyway, today is also a day to spend with my RL buddies, so I apologise if I can’t give hourly twitter feed updates.

White Album #01 — Classical Gas

Wasn’t this about pop idols?

New Season Disclaimer:

Impressions:

Well, my early prediction was wrong. There wasn’t a single naked burly man in sight. It’s a pity, really, because I’m sure it would have done nothing but improved my opinion of this episode. Good lord, was it boring.
