Lisa Miskovsky Performs Still Alive For Your Listening/Viewing Pleasure [Music]

Lisa Miskovsky - the lady behind the Mirror’s Edge theme song Still Alive - is apparently a household name in her native Sweden, although has yet to crack the US charts with her musical stylings.

Her ‘people’ think that Still Alive might be about to change all that and are offering you lot the chance to see the music video for the track and to hear a remix of the song by Teddybears (who are presumably also household names in.. wherever they are from).

A full album of Still Alive remixes is on the way featuring mixes by Junkie XL, Paul Van Dyk, Benny Benassi, and Armand Van Helden.

Connie Talbot Goes Over The Rainbow On The Wii [Music]

Currently sitting atop the Billboard singles charts like a tiny six year old queen, Britains Got Talent nearly-winner and angel-voiced British Invasion ‘08 munchkin Connie Talbot is to get her very own Wii game.

No, not for Xmas - for reals. Connie Talbot: Over the Rainbow is some kind of musical karaoke game for the Nintendo Wii. Players will be able to sing along with Connie as well as.. do other stuff. It’s unclear at this stage.

As Kotaku’s token Brit I feel I ought to take some responsibility for this but I am happy to pass this particular buck to the American public.

Bopaboo Claims to Let You “Legally” Sell MP3s [MP3s]

New MP3 market site Bopaboo says it has a legal means of letting owners of non-restricted MP3s sell them, for prices starting at 25 cents a track, to other users. The site’s founder says users are protected under the “first-sale doctrine,” as in re-selling a CD, and that the site prevents selling a track more than once. Only time (and lawsuits) will tell what comes of this unique tack on music sales. [via]

Wearable toy piano makes music, looks good doing it

Now here’s a concept. A musical shirt with enough transistors to make even the hardest of hardcore nerd blush, and a long-sleeve garment fashionable enough to make even the world-class design student stop and admire. Mashed into one. The Musical toy piano shirt is that very piece, which was constructed to wow onlookers at the Electronic Textile workshop held this month in Switzerland. Packing removable batteries, speakers and circuitry, the shirt enables the wearer to emit eight different notes from Do to Do, and we hear there’s nothing quite as cute as playing a song on yourself. See what we mean in the vid hosted just after the break.

Introducing LittleBigMusic [Littlebigplanet]

The best thing about LittleBigPlanet is, without a doubt, Stephen Fry. But Stephen Fry, sadly, has nothing to do with this post, so we move onto the second best thing about LittleBigPlanet: it’s music.

It’s…well, it’s just not the sort of thing you expect to hear from a video game. And that’s a good thing. As is this! It’s a CD by Daniel Pemberton, who contributes to the game’s soundtrack, and the album’s called Little Big Music: Musical Oddities From And Inspired By LittleBigPlanet.

As you can probably deduce from the title, it’s not a soundtrack per se. While many of the tracks included are to be found in the title, some aren’t, but as B-sides either cut from the game or inspired by it, you’re likely not to notice the difference.

A sample of the album can be heard over on Offworld, with the album due for release on iTunes on December 15.

Amarok 2 Released, Windows and Mac Versions in Beta [Featured Linux Download]

Linux only: Amarok 2, the open source media center we’d previously toured while it was in beta, is now available in a release version for Linux systems, and in pre-released beta for Windows and OS X.

There aren’t a ton of new features between the later beta release and this “final” (that will still get a lot of development focus), but a lot of interface and navigation quirks have been cleaned out. Amarok 2 has been pre-built for most major Linux distributions (with KDE dependencies), while the Windows installation (which ran pretty darned laggy on my XP desktop) can be had through the KDE on Windows installer.

AutoLyrix Automatically Searches, Displays Lyrics and Album Art [Featured Download]

Windows/Mac/Linux: Free application AutoLyrix automatically fetches and displays album artwork and lyrics for the currently playing track in your music player of choice. AutoLyrix is an open-source alternative to previously mentioned EvilLyrics, and like EvilLyrics, it not only downloads lyrics but also advances lyrics karaoke-style with the music when possible. AutoLyrix could use some polish to the interface (though it does transparency and has a few other options), but functionally it’s been working really well. The app works with virtually every popular media player, including iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player, foobar2000, Last.fm, MediaMonkey, and more. AutoLyrix is a free download for all platforms, requires .NET 2.0 on Windows and Mono on OS X and Linux.

Scandyna Speakers intros $300 retro-inspired iPod Pink Dock Pack

Scandyna Speakers isn’t pushing out just another iPod dock with its Pink Dock Pack, as evidenced by the retro-inspired design, $300 price tag and a sales deal with Saks. The set includes a stylish pink motif, 2 x 15-watt Class T amplifier, stereo line output, dock inserts to fit a variety of dock-connecting iPod models, a remote and a pair of Micropod SE speakers. Call us crazy, but we’re guessing these would sell quite a bit better if that PMP there was included and we could purchase one in a color not called pink. Full release after the break.
