It’s the Holiday Season [Note]

Re: Rain, Rain Come Again

Wow, this has been a fast year. I’m sort of stunned it’s ending so soon. The volume of work lately may also have to something to do with my being stunned. Funde Razor was only a couple of days ago and already it feels like something that happened last decade. I’m heading out to El Paso at the end of next week and before then I have some serious catching up to do. Podcasts, lost of them, all with special guests, need to be made. Reviews, lots of them, need to be written. The GOTYs, all over that. And I’m down to record a couple of taped shows for other outlets.

Re: A Season to Share

Wow. It DID go fantastically. But what’s this I hear about bets and haircuts?

So most of Australia is in a drought. Has been in one for, I dunno, over a decade or so. So the fact it’s rained non-stop here for the past 24 hours is both awesome and…strange! I’d forgotten what it was like to see so much water fall from the sky.

Re: So…?

It went fantastically. I think everyone who showed up had a blast and we managed to raise a whopping $4,000 in Denver alone. That’s about 285 people’s worth of giving, in case you were wondering.

This morning Tristan ambled over to my desk, bleary eyed from sleep, saw me counting a huge stack of cash and asked what it was for. When I told him he asked for his wallet.

I was dubious at first, but it turns out he wanted to donate $10. Pretty neat. Oh and then later the FedEx guy dropped $10 off for the Child’s Play donation.

Re: Socks & Jocks

It’s equal parts funny and sad to realize that I too don’t really want any video games for Christmas — okay, maybe a copy of Chrono Trigger DS and Dragon Quest IV for the DS — and how genuinely excited I am to actually get socks.

As you probably know, Crecente’s at the Denver version of Funde Razor right now, a night that promises to be filled with Rock Band and charity. I’m bearing down on some Meat Bun orders tonight, since we got Kotakued, but will be around to help out later. Hopefully I’ll find some maximum risky in Ash’s stead.

Re: Funde Razor Packs My Van

Good luck with Funde Razor! Man, every time I say that name out loud, it brings a smile to my face.

So I’m getting harangued about a “Christmas list”. As in, the list of stuff I want for Christmas. You know what it was from the ages of 4-25? It was video games, video games, video games. Now? Now I want something else, and I look around and…am concerned Christmas day will see me sitting amidst a pile of new socks and underpants.

Re: Achievement Unlocked: Betrothed

Holy crap! Congrats dude! I hope your proposal was romantic. Despite being a rather painful romantic, I totally flubbed mine with Trish. Good thing she said yes.

So I had Adam come over this morning to help me sort through a year’s worth of schwag (and some donations) to prepare for tomorrow’s fund raiser. It ended up taking him all day to unpack, take pictures of and then repack all of the stuff we’ll be giving away tomorrow night in Denver. I think I’m going to have to put together packs, just so it doesn’t take all night. Afterward we packed up the van, like totally packed it, with the stuff.

I wish you guys could have all come to the event, that we could have flown you, it’s going to be a blast, but in today’s wobbly economic times it just isn’t feasible.

Re: Homecoming (Hooray!)

Who knew that the US Postal Service could put me in such a foul mood? Boy, did it ever. Someone on the USPS’s technical side spilled some Pepsi Max or Mountain Lightning on one of the servers, putting the kibosh on my exciting plans for today. It was a fairly monumental cluster on the non-Kotaku side, with all sorts of snafus and stress. Yes, I have a case of the Mondays, as few newly banned commenters can probably tell. At least I have my health! But what I really need is a Braid-style rewind button.

Glad to hear Mrs. Bash is coming home!
