A First Look At Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO [Star Wars: The Old Republic]

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a second run at turning the successful Star Wars franchise into a money generating massively multiplayer online game, this time one created with the help of BioWare.

In this vid you catch a glimpse of some pre-production gameplay, new concept art, new screens and hear a bit about the game’s vision. Which, as BioWare tells it, isn’t just about monthly subscription fees and a virtual economy.

I will remain stubbornly disinterested until The Old Republic proves itself better than all of those other MMOs that have wooed me in the past with sweet talk and fancy trailers.

New Sims 3 Trailer Is Several Kinds Of Strange [The Sims 3]

This new European trailer for EA’s The Sims 3 is perfectly fine until the young French maid starts making out with the wrinkled old man.

It all kicks off with what seems to be a skinny goth woman on an exercise machine who drives several miles away in order to break in to a house and steal candy from small children. During her adventure she encounters cooking, flatulence, and the aforementioned cross-generational make out session. The whole thing ends with the previously skinny goth girl as a grossly fat goth girl, having presumably gone on a mad candy-stealing spree.

I think the message here is supposed to be something along the lines of the playing the game is as simple as taking candy from a baby, but the only message I get is that young women kissing men with liver spots isn’t something I wanted to see today.

Strong Bad’s CGFAP Episode 5 - The Trailer [Strong Bad]

At this point, Strong Bad and his Cool Game For Attractive People will have split the room already. You either ‘get’ the gruff-voiced lucha libre fella and his antics or you don’t.

For those in the former camp, this trailer will tantalise and intrigue with its subtitle “8-Bit Is Enough” and chiptunish musical sting promising 8-bit era parodies and retro goodness.

For everyone else.. well, there can’t be that many of these left. Go play something else.

Iron Chef’s a Screamer [Clips]

I was fairly impressed with this Cooking Mama knock-off. It has the controls down, the ingredient list is substantial. Essentially it’s Cooking Mama with lots of yelling, but for $20 $30 there’s nothing wrong with that. More games need to yell at you I think.

Meet Seth In New Street Fighter IV Trailer [Street Fighter Iv]

Meet Seth, he’ll be one of the new bosses who will be more than happy to pound your face into the ground when you get your hands on Street Fighter IV. He seems to enjoy sucking his opponents into a spiraling vortex and shooting them out of his chest. I predict hours of frustration with this guy.

Here’s Your Mirror’s Edge Launch Trailer [Mirror's Edge]

Mirror’s Edge is less than one short week away and to celebrate the occasion - we got this new launch trailer. Faith pulls out all the cards in this one, from riding on top of a speeding freight train to changing zip lines in mid-air. Hell, she even kicks a police officer square in the… well, you get the point. The full game comes out November 13th, and if you haven’t downloaded the demo over Xbox Live or PSN yet, you might want to give it a shot.

Identifiction: AO Sphere Trailer [Identifiction]

This teaser for Identifiction’s new episodic sci-fi game AO Sphere might not quite be the “PS3 quality” that Marketing Manager Salima Bessaraoui told us about last month, but its isn’t too shabby - especially considering that this is all done in Flash.

It is hard to get much of an idea of how this will play from what is on offer but if the way the animated characters move in and out of the nicely rendered backdrops remind me of anything it is Lucasarts point ‘n’ click adventures like Fate of Atlantis or Full Throttle. Not bad company to keep, in my book.

Beta sign-ups are still open - check out the link above for details.

Sugar Rush Lets You Kill Robots With Fish [Beta Watch]

Nexon just gifted us with a brand-new trailer for their first North America-developed MMO title, Sugar Rush, featuring the artwork of Atomic Betty director Jeffrey Agala. They’re gearing up for the latest round of closed beta testing, and are now accepting sign ups for those who might be able to find some time between November 20th to December to beat other people over the head with fish.

Honestly I have no earthly clue what is going on here, but it is nice to see a title coming from Nexon that didn’t originate somewhere on the other side of the planet.

Sacred 2 Trailer Lays It On A Bit Thick [Sacred 2: Fallen Angel]

There is a real air of YEAAAH! about this trailer for Ascaron’s action prequel Sacred 2: Fallen Angel - as if they hired a 15 year old KISS fan to direct and kept him well stocked with energy drinks and popping candy.

A BARBARIAN GUY! Riding on the back of a TROLL! A CYBORG ANUBIS! With a frickin’ LASER BEAM for an ARM! ARCHERY SUPERMODEL! YEAAAAAAAAH!

It all looks rather Mis-en-Cutscene, but there might be a few flashes of gameplay in there somewhere. If you squint. Looks like fun, all the same.

Lord of the Rings Conquest Trailer [Lotr]

Pandemic’s attempt at Battlefrontin’ the LOTR franchise, The Lord of The Rings: Conquest, is looking rather pleasing. I suppose it shouldn’t be too surprising that bits of this trailer look so cinematic - much of the third film was essentially a really well done cut scene, after all.

Notable features here: 1) it does look a bit odd seeing Middle Earth wizards actually doing magic of the fingerzappy death ray variety 2) That Ent looks a lot more like a really angry pot plant than I remember from the films.
